YARRA Trams is warning commuters of potential delays after “operation issues” saw Route 86 trams redirected off High Street this morning.
Trams in both directions were redirected along St Georges Road between Stop 42 Dundas Street and Stop 10 Parliament Station, with a shuttle established between Stop 10 Parliament Station and Stop 25 Clifton Hill Interchange.
Services were announced as having resumed at 7.20am, just ahead of the worst of the morning peak.
The disruption comes as Darebin commuters face a week of bus replacements following the derailment of a Metro Trains service near Clifton Hill on the weekend, closing the Mernda and Hurstbridge lines while the cause is investigated.
Yarra Trams was approached for comment prior to service restoration.

ROUTE 86 trams are being partially redirected along St George’s Road this morning, affecting commuters already displaced by the continuing closure of the Mernda and Hurstbridge rail lines.
